1.0 FTE Music Teacher - Choir/Chorus and Elementary General Music: Music Teacher (Chorus): 1.0 FTE (work day begins at 8:00am and ending time varies by day; travel time and prep time are included in FTE) Elementary School Classes • K-4 general music at Wade Thomas Elementary School • 5th Grade Beginning Chorus (at Wade Thomas and 3 additional elementary sites) Middle School Classes at White Hill Middle School • 6th Grade Chorus (1 section) • 7th/8th Grade Chorus (1 section) Ross Valley Choral and General Music Position 1.0 FTE Ross Valley School District in San Anselmo, CA is seeking a dynamic, passionate and versatile music teacher for 5th-8th grade choral music (.6 FTE) and K-4th grade general music (.4 FTE). The applicant must hold a single subject credential to teach music in California. We are seeking a candidate who has the skills to teach a music curriculum that is engaging, rigorous and sequential, while also creating a classroom environment that is nurturing, inclusive, inspiring, and fun. The ideal candidate will have training and experience in middle school chorus as well as active approaches to music education, such as Orff Schulwerk, Kodaly Approach, Dalcroze Eurhythmics, Gordon Music Learning Theory, or World Music Drumming. The elementary classroom includes a large supply of orff xylophones and auxiliary percussion instruments. The current middle school choirs comprise a highly regarded program in which students participate in festivals each year and frequently receive superior ratings. Our Foundation (YesToKids.org) fundraises around one million dollars per year to support the music and art programs in the district. We are looking for a personable, collaborative teacher who can work well within a team of five music teachers, helping us effectively utilize contributions from community volunteers and parents who provide additional funding and support for the arts in order to optimize the education of our students. The choral library is well developed and there is a generous budget for choral sheet music, performance attire, professional development to attend conferences, and professional piano accompaniment for performances. Chorus students rehearse and perform on professional Wenger choral risers. Ross Valley School District serves the K-8 educational needs of children at five school sites nestled among the beautiful wooded hills of Marin County, California, about 30 minutes north of the Golden Gate Bridge. All elementary students receive weekly music instruction with credentialed music teachers, and the middle school music electives all meet as full class periods.
