Job Summary

The Culinary Arts Instructor provides instruction to high school students in the areas of equipment identification, portion control, measurement, menu planning, cost calculation, sanitation and other restaurant occupations related areas to develop basic skills and to prepare high school students for entry-level employment in the Food Service and Hospitality field. Instructor will expose students to most aspects of the restaurant industry such as: fast food, banquets, fine dining, delivery service, catering, customer service, purchasing, receiving, food cost percentage and profit and loss. In addition, Instructor will provide students with an understanding of basic California State safety and sanitation guidelines, employment skills and menu planning.

RUSD requires applicants to have a valid California Designated Subjects Credential in Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation, and knowledge of industry standards as related to professional experience in Culinary Arts. Applicants must hold a CLAD or similar authorization for instruction to English Learners. BA or higher preferred. Please submit the following: • Letter of Introduction/Interest • Resume • Credential Copy (valid California Designated Subjects: Hospitality, Tourism, and Recreation or Single Subject in Home Economics or Status Letter from college or university showing completion of program and recommendation of credential by August 1st) • Three letters of recommendation (preferably within the last year and from at least one direct supervisor) • Transcripts (Copies of all college coursework credits) • CLAD/BCLAD or similar English Learner Authorization All required documents must be attached as part of your Ed-join application.
