Requirements / Qualifications

Under the direction of the assigned supervisor, the Teacher, Multiple Subjects provides an educational program at the secondary school level for alternative education and/or incarcerated students, in one or more classes in assigned subject area(s); serves as a member of the Individual Education Program (IEP) team to support the identification, intervention, and education of students; prepares students for high school graduation and/or a return to their district of residence. The Contra Costa County Office of Education is committed to creating an accessible, supportive environment and an educational experience that recognizes diversity and cultural competence as integral components of academic excellence. Mt. McKinley School is our Juvenile Hall facility and is located in Martinez, CA. Mt. McKinley offers a variety of classes targeted at students’ specific needs. All teachers are certificated, and the curriculum is aligned with the California State standards and frameworks. Lessons are designed to accommodate students diverse in ability and learning styles. Technology is highly valued and all students have access to computers. This program also helps students develop pro-social behaviors and life skills. The teacher in this position will work with both Middle and High School aged students. The candidate should have strong behavior management and intervention skills, be proficient with using technology in the classroom. The successful applicant will have a strong technology skill and the ability to teach high school core subjects: English, Algebra, History and Science.
