Applicants must possess or qualify for: • Possess appropriate California Single Subject Credential OR possess or qualify for an appropriate California Career Technical Teaching Credential authorizing Computer Education. • Working knowledge of the core concepts of the 2016 K12 Computer Science Framework. • Expertise in Microsoft Office Productivity Suite and Google Apps for Education. Working knowledge of web-based applications and learning environments (Google Classroom, OdysseyWare, etc.). • Three (3) years industry experience. • Ability to foster an inclusive computing culture where students collaborate and communicate about problems and how computers can be used to solve them. • Ability to promote and model digital citizenship and responsible social interactions related to the use of technology and digital information.

Mt. McKinley School is located in the Juvenile Hall facility in Martinez. The school offers a variety of classes targeted at students’ specific needs. All teachers are certificated, and the curriculum is aligned with the California State Frameworks. Lessons are designed to accommodate classrooms diverse in ability and learning styles. Technology is highly valued, and all students have access to computers. This program also helps students develop pro-social behaviors and life skills.
This teacher will work with high school and middle school students utilizing push-in and pull-out models individually and in small groups. This teacher will also case manage the students’ IEPs including academic assessments, development of goals and coordination of IEP meetings. The candidate should have strong behavioral management and intervention skills and be familiar with incorporating technology into the classroom. Experience with the SEIS database system is preferred.
