Extera Public Schools are tuition-free, public K-8 charter schools serving the communities of Boyle Heights and East Los Angeles. Founded in 2011, Extera operates two schools on four campuses that are co-located with LAUSD schools. Extera Public Schools currently serves approximately 900 inner-city, primarily Latino students who historically have had limited access to high quality public education options within their local neighborhood. More than 90% of Extera’s students come from low-income households and are eligible for Title I services, and nearly 50% are classified as English learners. The Associate Director of Talent and Culture executes HR activities including but not limited to: payroll, job applicant processing, new employee onboarding, employee exiting, district and federal teacher credentialing, benefits management, answering HR questions from staff, and all aspects of HR compliance. Under the direction of the Managing Director of Operations and Finance, the Human Resources Coordinator provides a wide variety of both complex and routine administrative services, including researching, writing and implementing policies and procedures, developing and conducting employee on-boarding and off-boarding processes, managing personnel records in the appropriate information systems and leading customer service functions. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES Partner with the Managing Director of Operations and other members of Extera’s leadership team to develop and implement human resources policies and procedures to address HR related needs Partner with the Managing Director of Operations and other members of Extera’s leadership team to develop and implement a district employee culture and retention plan Research, write and implement policies and procedures according to changes in state and federal law, school’s charter and/or best practices Manage the employee on-boarding and off-boarding process; partner with School Directors and Extera leadership to ensure an understanding of related requirements and procedures Resolve employee concerns related to their employment, wages, credential and health and welfare plans Adm
