Wu Yee means "Protector of Children" Founded in 1977 by social workers and parents concerned about the challenges facing by new immigrants in Chinatown, Wu Yee Children’s Services (Wu Yee) has grown to a city-scale agency serving diverse families throughout San Francisco, and is now the city’s largest provider of Early Head Start. We provide Head Start and Early Head Start programs at our 12 child development centers (CDCs) and through Family Child Care (FCC) homes. Our Home Based services assist pregnant mothers and families with infants. We also provide families with free personal assistance to find the child care that best fits their needs through our Resource and Referral services. The Joy Lok Family Resource Center serves as a hub for families, offering educational playgroups, a toy lending library, parenting workshops, social support networks and public benefits assistance. Wu Yee promotes high-quality care and education for young children by providing support, training and professional development stipends for child care providers. Though the Family Child Care Quality Network (FCCQN) we create opportunities for providers to increase the quality of family child care homes. Our Food Program provides food reimbursements and technical assistance to help family child care providers serve nutritious meals.
