The Mark Twain Union Elementary School District serves students from grades Tk-8th in the historic communities of Angels Camp, and Copperopolis in Calaveras County. Angels Camp is home to “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” made famous by Mark Twain in 1865 and is host of the Annual Jumping Frog Jubilee celebration since 1893. During the Civil War, the town of Copperopolis is known for supplying troops with Copper which was discovered there in 1860. Mark Twain Union Elementary School District is located in Calaveras County’s Gold Country region is characterized by rolling foothills dotted with gold mining settlements, featuring the Victorian architecture of the Old West.
