Requirements / Qualifications
Minimum Requirements: • At least five (5) years of successful full-time public school service in a certificated position(s), no fewer than three (3) years working directly with students with disabilities • A valid California Administrative Services Credential • A valid California Special Education Teaching Credential requiring a bachelor's degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching • An earned master’s degree or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard conferred by an accredited college or university • Completion of required Multicultural Education and Master Plan coursework* • Ability to travel to sites throughout the District *Applicants have one year to complete this requirement.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Associate Superintendent, Special Education or their administrative designee, the duties include, but are not limited to the following:
• Provides technical assistance to schools in the LAUSD SELPA, including LAUSD SELPA District-operated charter schools and LAUSD SELPA-charter operated schools regarding strategies, supports, and procedures to ensure students with disabilities receive instruction in the least restrictive environment and to address disproportionality.
• Develops and provides staff training focusing on effective research-based practices to address disproportionality and to ensure student success in both classroom instruction and school-wide behavior for LAUSD SELPA, including LAUSD SELPA-District operated charter schools and LAUSD SELPA-charter operated schools.
• Provides coaching and uses other support strategies to assist classroom personnel in effectively working with students with disabilities including appropriate use of academic and social supports. This may include working over days and/or weeks in support of a single classroom either as an individual or part of a support team in any part of the District.
• Provides support for students with moderate/severe disabilities in successfully transitioning to less restrictive environments.
• Guides the preparation for and the development of effective Individualized Education Programs (IEP) for students with disabilities including compliance with time lines, service tracking, and provision of services.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• During periods of critical personnel shortage of other emergency situations, temporarily perform duties as directed within the authorization of any credentials held and registered with the Office of the Los Angeles County Superintendent of Schools.
