Position Title: Business Manager
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Reports to: Principal
Position Description: Manage and coordinate business operations for the school, including business planning and budget preparation, business reporting and filings, accounts payable, accounts receivable, contract and grant accounting.
Essential Functions:
- Manage daily financial activities, including budget preparation and control, accounting, payroll, purchasing, and business planning and management.
- Manage cash, cash-related receipts, accounts receivable and credit and collection functions, ensuring a timely processing of billings, payments and collections.
- Ensure that the accounting procedures within the school system meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Develop and manage contracts with vendors and contractors.
- Maintain all required (non-benefit) insurance policies; keep school in compliance with all (non-benefit) insurance policy requirements; procure certificates of insurance as needed.
- Manage grant requirements.
- Oversee Human Resource Department.
- Manage all fundraising events for the school.
- Responsible for reporting financial status to the board.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Imagine Schools Six Measures of Excellence in the execution of duties.
- Model positive character virtues and habits. Assist students in developing positive moral and performance character attributes.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Principal/School Leader.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelors Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
- Experience: 2 years experience in business/financial management. Prior public School background preferred.
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Working knowledge of business accounting policies, procedures, practices and software programs. Excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and multitask when necessary. Ability to exercise independent judgment in making decisions within the established policies and procedures. Ability to think and plan strategically and creatively. Demonstrates attention to detail and necessary expertise to complete all tasks. Ability to use online reporting systems. Ability to communicate cooperatively and constructively with other staff, students and customers in a multi-cultural environment.
