Cosumnes River College is located in the rapidly growing south Sacramento County area. Cosumnes River College is one of four colleges which comprise the Los Rios Community College District. Founded in 1970, the college enjoys a highly diverse student body with 14,500 students, and over 600 members of the faculty, staff, and administration. Over sixty percent of these students come from historically underrepresented communities, with a substantial English Language Learner (ELL) population and first-generation college attendees.

Distance Education is an increasingly important part of the Cosumnes River College instructional delivery system. Students learn by accessing a variety of delivery systems, including live interactive television classes, online instruction, and hybrid classes.

Position Summary:

Incumbents, under general direction, perform a wide range of cleaning and minor maintenance duties. There may be leadership exercised over student assistants. Job Location: Cosumnes River College, 8401 Center Parkway, Sacramento, CA 95823-5704; and the Elk Grove Center, 10051 Big Horn Boulevard, Elk Grove, CA 95757 (the Center is tentatively scheduled to open in the fall of 2013).

Responsibilities:

Sweeps, scrubs, waxes, polishes floors; vacuums, shampoos, and steam cleans rugs and carpets; sweeps walks and entrances; sanitizes restrooms; cleans windows, woodwork, walls and furniture; cleans restrooms and drinking fountains; picks up refuse on grounds, drives trash truck to incinerator and burns refuse; moves and arranges furniture and equipment for classroom changes and set-ups for college and community events; moves, washes and services staff cars; participates in thorough cleaning and restoration of college plant during school vacation periods (at which time work shifts may change to accommodate cleaning schedule); locks and unlocks doors as assigned; performs maintenance and minor repairs to furniture, cabinets, plumbing and electrical equipment; receives and picks up supplies and equipment; operates and maintains cleaning equipment; reports safety, sanitary and fire hazards; substitutes for campus patrol and stock clerk; performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: One year of general work experience including some experience in custodial work.

Have sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.

(Experience Requirement: One year of experience is equal to 12 months of experience at a maximum of 40 hours per week.)

All Positions: Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful clearance from a criminal background check, freedom from tuberculosis, and proof of identity and eligibility to work in the United States prior to the first day of work. Work Schedule:

5:00 p.m. to 1:30 a.m., Monday - Thursday 

3:00 p.m. to 11:30 p.m., Friday
