Head Football Coach

 Thurgood Marshall Academic High School in the Bayview district of San Francisco is seeking to hire an enthusiastic and passionate Head Football Coach for the Fall 2012-2013 season. The season starts August 3, 2012 (with a pre-season meeting on July 20), and goes through late November, depending on if the team makes it to playoffs.

 

Requirements:

-          Strong organization & communication skills a must! (ie: emails, scheduling, etc)

-          Recent negative TB test (within 3 months), CPR & First Aid certified

-          At least 2 years experience as a head coach or assistant coach.

-          Experience working with an ethnically diverse student population, and have the ability to work with a low-income population.

-          Thurgood Marshall High School believes that a student’s education is their first priority. The football coach will be expected to support this, including helping to monitoring athletes’ grades and work with after school tutoring program to support academic needs.

-          All coaches must adhere to school rules and policy of the principal and athletic director. Coaches must adhere to all district guidelines for staff conduct. Failure to do so may result in termination.

-          Must demonstrate the ability to ensure that he/she and the students whom he/she coaches conduct themselves in a sportsmanlike manner prior to, during and immediately after athletic contests. This includes ensuring that the students conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner in their dealings with each other as well as their dealings with contest officials and representatives of opposing schools.


Preferred:

-          Coaches should prove to have successfully completed a coaching class at the university level.

-          Coaches have experience playing at the NCAA level.

 

Compensation is $28.89/hour, and paid a total of 150 hours maximum for the fall season.
