JOB DESCRIPTION

ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN-BUSINESS SERVICES

 

12 Months RANGE 44 – CLASSIFIED SALARY SCHEDULE (ESD/HSD)

 

 

 

DEFINITIONUnder the direction of an assigned manager, perform specialized accounting duties in the support of designated funds and accounts including purchase orders, budget transfers, invoicing, attendance and other functions. The Accounting Technician works independently and performs specialized accounting duties in support of designated funds and accounts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Process purchase orders; approve and route requisitions to appropriate administrators; ensure proper coding for purchased items; process related documents and identify errors and resolve discrepancies; communicate with other departments and outside organizations to rectify missing or incomplete information.

Review and process budget transfers as required; approve transfers for sites and departments.

Assist District sites with encumbering funds for individual agreements; provide related information to appropriate departments as required.

Compile, research and evaluate a variety fiscal information related to assigned fiscal functions; assemble and distribute related materials; ensure mandated reports are submitted to appropriate agencies according to established time lines; compile and report fiscal information to outside agencies as requested.

Provide support to sites, administrator and departments regarding purchasing, coding and budgeting, use of financial software; ensure compliance with District procedures; assist with budget development as assigned. Determine if there is sufficient funds to cover the purchase of goods and/or services and notify requesting party if transfers need to be obtained.

Support the district in purchasing (not limited to) furniture, equipment and materials including the obtaining of quotes and specific specifications.

Maintain records on District telephone systems and request maintenance as needed.

Perform a variety of duties related to shipping, receiving, storing and issuing of assigned goods including supplies, equipment, mail: ensure supplies, equipment, materials are delivered in a timely manner.

Shelve and store items received for Business Services in the appropriate section of the office.

Coordinate receipt and distribution of supplies, materials and instructional materials as assigned, coordinate library textbooks as needed.

Communicate with personnel and outside agencies to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues or concerns related to purchase orders, deliveries, discrepancies and inventory.

Provide assistance to other staff as required.

Maintain work area in a clean orderly and safe condition.

 

EDUCATION/ TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Any combination equivalent to: graduation from high school supplemented by college-level course work in accounting or related field and three years of clerical accounting experience.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Department of Justice fingerprint clearance.
  • TB clearance.

 

ENVIRONMENT:

  • Office environment.
  • Constant interruptions.

 

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The usual and customary methods of performing the job’s functions require the following physical demands: some lifting (up to 20 pounds), carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; significant manual dexterity, ability to perform keyboarding tasks, sufficient hearing and speaking ability for normal voice level conversations, telephone conversations, and to hear and speak to be understood in indoor and outdoor settings. The job includes 40% sitting, 40% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a school environment that includes indoor and outdoor duties.
