St. John the Baptist Catholic School is seeking a dynamic and inspirational elementary school teacher for the 2019-20 school year. This is a full-time position that involves teaching in the classroom, collaborating with parents and participating in the school community. Position: 2nd Grade Teacher Required Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree • CA Department of Education credential (or in progress of earning one) • Appropriate health verification and satisfactory background check Desired Qualifications • Faithful, practicing Catholic with some experience in age-appropriate faith-formation • Commitment to the school mission and philosophy • Successful experience working with young children, particularly in a Catholic or private school environment • Effective classroom management skills • Working familiarity with the Common Core and CA State Standards, especially for rubrics-based performance assessments (e.g., Renaissance Learning Star Assessments) • Experience with differentiated instruction, and working with students who have diverse learning needs and abilities • Ability to utilize and integrate technology in a classroom environment • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Personal traits that include patience, discretion and a healthy sense of humor
