WINDSOR UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT .JOB DESCRIPTION TITLE: Elementary Behavioral Suppo11 Aide DEFINITION Under the general direction of the site administrator, in cooperation with the classroom teacher(s) and Ed Services Program Coordinator, performs the necessary duties to assist in assigned instructional areas to meet the individual behavioral needs of students and to assist in the daily operations of the classroom. Uses basic good judgment to supervise students on school grounds and/or in the cafeteria or lunch area, maintaining order and safety in accordance with specific mles at each site. Communicates effectively in English. RANCE: WUSD proposed 8 CALENDAR: 192 EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following are typical duties and responsibilities for positions in this classification. Any single position may not perform all of these tasks and/or may perform similar related tasks not listed below: • Assists the classroom teacher in maintaining classroom control and in assigned instructional areas of designated students. Interacts with students, encourages their perfonnance, observes progress, and meets instmctional needs as they arise • Assesses student behavioral needs and assists them in corrective action within the classroom • Guides students through decompression activities as needed • Escort students to specialized classroom for social emotional regulation • Shares observations of students with classroom or special program teacher(s) • Assists in a variety of activities related to the daily operations of the classroom, such as, roll call, lunch count, absences, and out-of-classroom errands • Works with students in small groups or on a one-to-one basis, to reinforce skills • Operates standard office machines • Supervises students in class, on school grounds, while exiting, entering or waiting for the bus • Assists administration and the custodial staff in identifying unsafe conditions and/or faulty equipment on the
