MetroED collaborates with designated districts to provide comprehensive educational opportunities for adults and high school students. Through our Silicon Valley Career Technical Education program, we offer career technical education to high school students and, on a space-available basis, to adult students in the following districts: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District. Additionally, our Silicon Valley Adult Education provides courses for the San Jose Unified School District.

Under the supervision and guidance of an assigned administrator, plan and implement learning activities that support all aspects of diesel engine service and repair on buses, trucks, over-the-road trucks, construction equipment, emergency service vehicles, aircraft tuggers, and railroad equipment. Students will learn to assemble, adjust, repair, and maintain hydraulic systems and drive trains, electrical and cooling systems, and steering and suspension systems. Students are to learn: gas and diesel engines, standard and automatic transmissions, tires and wheels, OSHA standards, hydraulic systems, electrical systems, heating, and air conditioning systems, DOT regulations; pre-trip inspections, steering and suspension, and air and hydraulic brakes.

Requirements / Qualifications • Possess the qualifications appropriate to deliver high-quality learning outcomes in the field of instruction. • Hold a current or be eligible to obtain the appropriate Preliminary Career Technical Education or Designated Subjects Credential or Designated Subjects Adult Education Teaching Credential - Three years of work experience directly related to diesel mechanics. One year equals a minimum of 1000 clock hours and the experience may be full-time or part-time, paid or unpaid. - High school diploma requirement by one of the following methods. Possess: > a high school diploma, or > a diploma based on the passage of the GED Test, or > the foreign equivalent of a high school diploma
