      Comments and Other Information

The Patterson Joint Unified School District is located in the Central Valley of California, about two hours from San Francisco and Sacramento. We serve a large agricultural area spread across the western side of Stanislaus County in the Central San Joaquin Valley. Our district boundaries cover half of the west side of the county, including the entire city of Patterson with a population of 23,800 people and the rural communities of Westley and Grayson. The area economy is driven mostly by agriculture with a lot of recent growth in the materials warehouse and distribution industry. 75% of our students are socio-economically disadvantaged, a rate that has not changed over the past five years. With five elementary schools, one middle school, one comprehensive high school, one continuation high school, one independent study school and one adult transition program, PJUSD serves just over 6,000 students and is the fifth-largest district in Stanislaus County. Our demographics are comprised largely of Hispanic/Latino families (75%), with a mix of a variety of ethnic population groups. With continued development in both industrial and residential throughout the city, the Patterson community continues to grow and is expected to double its population within the next ten years.
