Requirements / Qualifications

Education: • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree with an emphasis in special education is preferred. Experience: • Three (3) years successful teaching experience working with a wide range of age groups and handicapping conditions, including emotionally, behaviorally, disabled students is preferred. • Knowledge of and experience with successful educational interventions for severely disabled students is desired. Credentials: • A valid California Special Education Teacher Credential authorizing teaching of the Severely Handicapped or Education Specialist Instruction Credential with the Specialty Area of Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Disabilities and an EL Certification is required. The Autism authorization may be required depending on the position.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE: A complete, signed and dated on-line Edjoin application for the position shall include copies or proof of all of the items listed below. Applicants submitting incomplete applications will not be considered for employment. Applications will be reviewed upon receipt. 1. A completed signed and dated on-line Edjoin application 2. A letter describing personal qualifications and interest in the position 3. A valid California Special Education Teacher Credential authorizing teaching of the Severely Handicapped or Education Specialist Instruction Credential with the Specialty Area of Mild/Moderate or Moderate/Severe Disabilities and an EL Certification is required 4. Three (3) letters of recommendation (within the past year). These are not required if you have worked ESY in the past. 5. Intern applicants: please submit a letter showing that you have enrolled in a college or university or public school district Commission-approved intern program. 6. A resume *** Applicants that have worked the SCOE ESY program for the last two years will only need to submit an Edjoin application and attach a letter expressing your interest in working ESY.
