Job Description: Kashia Elementary School has an immediate opening for an elementary classroom teacher The school has a focus on project based individualized education, environmental studies and cultural arts. Usually 10-15 students are enrolled. Location:The public school is five miles miles inland from Stewarts Point and the Pacific Ocean. Students are mostly Native American who live on the adjacent Pomo-Kashia Reservation. There is an opportunity for housing on campus at a reduced rate. Requirements: A Multiple Subject credential is required. Experience with both primary and intermediate school is desired.The ideal candidate is a team player who enjoys working in a collaborative manner and has leadership talent. Additional information: There is an opportunity to progress to an administrative position as Principal/Superintendent at Kashia School. This is a unique opportunity for an individual who sees the significant contributions which Native Americans can make to our rapidly changing world. Experience with documentary film work is an asset. Kashia Elementary, a public school, is located in the rural, northwest corner of Sonoma County and is adjecent to Stewarts Point Rancheria.(Near Salt Point/Sea Ranch/Gualala, one hour due west of Healdsburg.) The school is located 4 miles east of Highway One on Skaggs Springs Road. The School Board consists of 3 community elected members, a part-time administrator, a part-time aide, a part-time business manager, a custodian and a part-time native language consultant. Knowledge of K-8 curriculum, CA State Standards, differentiated instruction, multiple assessments, small schools, and budgets is important. New pre-fab with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, washer/dryer available at below market rent.
