We are looking for a Special Education Programs Director who will provide leadership and administrative support for District Special Education programs, and other student and family support programs as determined by the Superintendent. Responsible To: Superintendent or Administrative Designee
Work Year: 205 days (200 for 2010 - 2011)
Salary: Appropriate step and column on Assistant Principal Salary Schedule
DEFINITION
Provide leadership and administrative support for District Special Education programs, other student and family support programs, Medi-Cal, and monitor District students assessed and placed in County/SELPA operated programs.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:
1. Monitoring and arranging site and out-of-district transportation for students
2. Roseland School District IEPs as needed, including Full Inclusion, transition IEPs and other high profile
3. SCOE, Preschool and NPS IEPs
4. District coordination for MediCal
5. APE and OT correspondence, NPA Service agreements (O.T., APE)
6. State IEP Compliance correspondence and planning
7. Roseland School District special education enrollment monitoring
8. Coordination of Behavior Assessments and follow-up
9. ICC presentations with school psychologist for district
10. Facilitating change of program for intensive needs students for district
11. Assisting with budget development and monitoring
12. Attending necessary county and SELPA meetings
13. Attending District Administrative Cabinet meetings as necessary
EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS
Knowledge of:
1. Federal and state laws, codes, regulations and requirements pertaining to areas of assigned responsibility for regular and special education
2. Professional and ethical standards and practices
3. Principles, practices methods and strategies applicable to special education curriculum development and strategies for implementation
4. Public and private education programs and community resources for referrals
5. Behavior management theories and techniques
Ability to:
1. Hire, supervise and evaluate staff
2. Respond promptly to requests of internal and external clients; provide needed directions, assistance, training, materials and resources
3. Plan and implement programs of remediation
4. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing
5. Make decisions in a objective, rational and competent manner

8. Establish effective working relationships with staff, district personnel, other agencies and the public

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Credentials:
• California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with School Psychology Authorization or Special Education Credential
Experience:
• At least (5) years experience as teacher or psychologist
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
1. Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with an emphasis in special education psychology or closely related field
2. Administrative Credential
