Job Summary
This position is funded through Expanded Learning Opportunities Grant funding and is intended to specifically target the needs of students who have been most severely impacted by decreased access to academic and social emotional support and supplemental learning opportunities during the COVID 19 pandemic. This position may include working with students at a variety of grade levels, TK-8. Under general direction of the Site Administrator, and in conjunction with the classroom teacher, performs the necessary duties to assist in assigned instructional areas with an emphasis on literacy, intervention, behavior support, and post-pandemic accelerated learning recovery. Requirements: Education / Experience: • One (1) year experience working with children or in youth related activities. • High School Diploma or Equivalent. • Instructional Assistant Certificate (California law requires that all instructional assistants pass proficiency tests in reading English, language usage of English, and math, equivalent to a graduating senior of the attendance area high school.); or • AA degree; or • Equivalent requirements of ELO ELD Instructional Assistant Desirable Qualifications: • Ability to communicate in Spanish. All employees must have a high school diploma or GED. Fingerprinting: All employees must complete fingerprint background clearance through the California State Department of Justice prior to beginning work. TB Test: Prior to beginning work all employees are required to file evidence of having a tuberculosis examination with a negative result. Medically verified positive skin test results require a chest x-ray. This is at the expense of the employee. Authorization to Work: As required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, ALL persons who are offered employment must provide the District with documents that establishes their identity and employment eligibility. Post Offer/Pre-Employment Assessment: Employment in positions of Maintenance Worker, Custodian, Food Service, Special Education Assistant, Bus Driver, Van Driver and specific Special Education Teachers is contingent upon completing and passing an assessment to determine that physical duties of the position can be performed. Other: Bus and Van Drivers are subject to initial and random drug testing and Department of Motor Vehicle pull notice. Instructional Aide certificate or equivalent required for Instructional Aides.
