Metropolitan Education District (MetroED) is a regional provider of Career Technical Education (CTE) and Adult Education. As the largest organization of its kind in Santa Clara County, we are dedicated to offering career-oriented education to both high school and adult students. Annually, MetroED provides 2,600 diverse students with the skills to help them be productive, income-earning, and tax-paying contributors to Silicon Valley. MetroED collaborates with designated districts to provide comprehensive educational opportunities for adults and high school students. Through our Silicon Valley Career Technical Education program, we offer career technical education to high school students and, on a space-available basis, to adult students in the following districts: Campbell Union High School District, East Side Union High School District, Los Gatos-Saratoga Union High School District, Milpitas Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, and Santa Clara Unified School District. Additionally, our Silicon Valley Adult Education provides courses for the San Jose Unified School District.

Under the direction of the Director of Program & Student Support Services, or designee, the Counseling Program Coordinator will develop a counseling program designed to help students succeed in their SVCTE courses by maintaining a positive attitude, appropriate behavior, and the required attendance in order to be well prepared for further study and for entry-level employment. The Counseling Program Coordinator/Counselor assists the students with testing and assessment opportunities, educational planning, resources of the school and community, and with career and college guidance and planning. The Counseling Program Coordinator also evaluates students’ progress; supports and supervises co-curricular activities; communicates regularly with parents and education partners; may be designated to direct classified staff, and to perform other duties required by the profession and position.
