POSITION: Under general supervision, performs work of routine difficulty in keeping landscaped areas properly cared for and performs related work as required. SELECTION PROCEDURE: Candidates must pass each part of the selection process which consists of a review and evaluation of candidate’s application material. Those candidates whose application shows the best combination of related education, training and experience will be invited to interview which will include job-related questions and a test. The following will be taken into consideration as part of the selection process: application, resume, letters of recommendation/reference, test, and interview. Any material to be reviewed by the screening committee must be submitted by the final filing date.

REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must possess the knowledge and skill required for successful job performance as follows: Training and Experience: • A combination of training and experience equivalent to two (2) years’ experience in grounds maintenance work Example of Duties: • Water lawns, trees, and shrubs • Does simple pruning of trees and shrubs • General grounds cleaning; pulls, spades, and hoes weeds, rakes leaves and lawns • Cultivates ground around plants and shrubs • Loads and unloads trucks; may operate water truck • May assist mowing and lawn crew; may operate small tillers and mowers Knowledge of: • Basic gardening and landscaping materials • The use and maintenance of gardening equipment, tools, and machinery Skill in: • Using tools necessary to groundskeeping Ability to: • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others • Follow oral and written instructions Licenses and Certificates: • A valid California driver’s license
