DEFINITION: Under general supervision, operates a school vehicle in transporting children to and from school and on special trips; and performs related work as required. Training and Experience: • None Knowledge of: • Motor vehicle regulations and special codes and regulations related to school buses • Safe driving practices Example of Duties: • Develops the most efficient route for transportation of assigned students • Drives bus along route, stops and designated points to pick up or discharge students • Maintains order and enforces rules • Reports and cities for disciplinary action in cases of extreme or repeated unruliness • Reports incidents • Files accident reports when necessary • Makes routine safety checks on vehicle • Reports problems or equipment malfunctioning • Maintains records of all trips • Keeps bus clean

Skill in: • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others Licenses and Certificates: • Possession of a valid California Class B driver’s license • Class A Bus Driver’s Certificate issued by the California Highway Candidates must pass each part of the selection process which consists of a review and evaluation of the candidate’s application material. Those candidates whose application shows the best combination of related education, training and experience will be invited to test and interview. The following will be taken into consideration as part of the selection process: application, resume, letters of recommendation/reference, test, and interview. Any material to be reviewed by the screening committee must be submitted by the final filing date. Prior to employment, the candidate will be fingerprinted by Mt. Diablo Unified School District. Costs incurred are the responsibility of the prospective employee.
