DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs work in the maintenance, installation and repair of building heating and air conditioning systems and equipment in District buildings, and perform related work as required. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: • Inspects and tests heating and air conditioning systems • Does electrical work including trouble shooting and heating control maintenance and repair • Overhauls pumps, motors, fans and related air handling and distribution equipment • Repair thermostats, temperature control values, damper operating devices, boiler controls and safety devices • Installs new heating and cooling equipment • Operates test equipment for measuring pressures, velocities, voltages, etc • Lays out work and interprets blueprints • Replaces worn parts on a variety of mechanical equipment • Maintains work records • Maintains kitchen appliances • Maintains gas fired equipment DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience: A combination of training and experience equivalent to four years of progressively responsible experience in heating and air conditioning maintenance. Knowledge of: • The operation, maintenance and repair of building, heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems and controls • Tools and equipment used in building mechanical system repair work Skills in: • Reading schematic control diagrams, wiring diagrams and in trouble shooting systems • Following plans and blueprints in repair activities • Operating hand tools Ability to: • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others Licenses and Certificates: • A valid California driver’s license • Must be properly trained and certified through a certification program approved under 40 CFR, Part 82 ----------------------------------------- **SEE JOB DESCRIPTION**
