REQUIREMENTS: National RID (Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf) Certificate or equivalent. In lieu of RID certification, must have achieved a score of 4.0 or above on the EIPA (Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment, the ESSE-I/R (Educational Sign Skills Evaluation-Interpreter and Receptive), or the NAD/ACCI (National Assoc. of the Deaf/American Consortium of Certificated Interpreters.) If providing Cued Language transliteration, a transliterator shall possess TEC Unit certification, or have achieved a score 4.0 or above on the EIPA – Cued Speech. ------------------------------------------ SELECTION PROCEDURE: To qualify for this position applicant must have a high school diploma and official transcripts of at least two years of college (48 units) or an AA degree or pass our proficiency exam (will accept CBEST in lieu of). Areas covered on the written exam are math, reading and writing. Please provide copies of your official transcripts or proof of CBEST along with application. Those candidates successful in the above areas will be invited to interview. All material to be reviewed by the screening committee must be submitted with the application EXAMINATION INFORMATION: LOCATION: District Office, 1936 Carlotta Drive, Concord; Human Resources DATE: EVERY WEDNESDAY TIME: 9 a.m. (approximate test time 3 hours). No admittance once the test begins. PLEASE ATTEND ANY ONE OF THE ABOVE TESTING DATE AND TIME. YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE WRITTEN NOTIFICATION

POSITION: Under the supervision of the site administrator and program administrator, provides communication facilitation between students who are deaf and hard of hearing (DHH), and others, in the general education classroom and for other school related activities, including extracurricular activities, as designated in a student’s Individualized Educational Program (IEP); and performs other related duties as required. REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must possess the knowledge and skills required for successful job performance as follows: Training and Experience: A combination of training and experience equivalent to graduation from high school; two years of college; one year’s experience involving extensive contact with the deaf. Knowledge of: • Procedures, functions and limitations of assigned interpreter/tutor duties • Correct English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation • General classroom procedures, practices and equipment • Communication modality used by the student who is deaf or hard of hearing • Diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds of students • Familiarity with the Registry of Interpreting for the Deaf (RID) and Code of Professional Conduct Skill in: • Interpreting specialized instructional activities in an assigned classroom setting • Using, understanding, interpreting manual and oral communication • Understanding and following oral and written instructions • Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others Ability to: • Perform the duties of the position with or without accommodation • Learn to interpret rules, regulations, procedures and policies LICENSES: A valid California Driver's License may be required.
