EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • Graduation from high school or its equivalent and college level coursework in nursing, health care or a related field • Must have an AA degree or higher or at least two years of higher education (minimum 48 semester units) or pass an assessment test to demonstrate the knowledge and ability to assist in instruction • Two years of clinical experience preferably working with children REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSIDERATION INCLUDE: • Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency • Knowledge of operation of medical equipment such as suction machines, catheterization equipment, gastronomy feeding tubes, wheelchairs and walkers • Knowledge of health and medical terminology, as well as health and safety regulations • Knowledge of basic subjects, instructional methods and techniques, classroom procedures and appropriate student conduct • Ability to provide a variety of specialized health care services for physically disabled students • Ability to respond appropriately and effectively in emergency situations, and assess injuries and illnesses • Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of records related to assigned activities • Ability to understand and relate to children with special needs • Ability to read, interpret and follow applicable laws, rules, and regulations • Ability to lift, carry, push or pull moderately heavy physically disabled students
