Job Summary

The duties of the Athletic Trainer include, but are not limited to, the prevention of athletic injuries; recognition, evaluation, and the immediate care of athletic injuries. The Athletic Trainer shall serve as a liaison of physical health support to and between athletes, coaches, Athletic Directors, physicians, and parents. The Athletic Trainer shall enact and use reasonable efforts and professionalism to ensure that players participate in interscholastic activities, events and practices only when physically able and that any instructions provided by their attending physician are understood and followed. Safety and health of the athlete comes first. Duties will involve working late afternoons, evenings, and weekends. They must work effectively with people representing diverse cultures, perspectives and needs, including all genders.

• BA or BS degree in Anatomy, Kinesiology, Physiology, Nutrition or similar field from an accredited college/university or a combination of experience, training and/or education to demonstrate proficiency in the knowledge and abilities listed in Sports Medicine or similar field • One year of certification and experience required, 3-4 years’ experience in athletic training setting is preferred • ATC Certified by and member in good standing with National Athletic Trainers Association Board of Certification • Evidence of TB clearance • First Aid certificate is required • CPR certificate is required • Valid CA driver's license and acceptable driving record is required • Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice (DOJ) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is required • Completion of Athletic Taping and Bracing course or equivalent experience is required • Basic Water Safety Certification (desirable)
