Job Summary

Under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance & Operations, the Foreman performs a lead working role in planning, scheduling, estimating, coordinating and overseeing the work of other tradespeople as they complete their assigned tasks. This position coordinates projects at schools and administrative sites in consultation with site administrators, and senior management personnel, project managers, architects and engineers. This position facilitates planning, organization, prioritization, and scheduling of maintenance and operations activities; verifies funding sources, provide advice regarding regulations, procedures and standards concerning maintenance and operations activities; identifies and resolves safety issues; and resolves complaints and inquires. Inspects sites as required to identify maintenance and operations and as required by regulatory agencies. This position may at times require incumbent to work an alternative shift of 2:30 pm to 10:30 pm during the school year. Positions in this classification are distinguished from other tradespeople classifications because of their level of knowledge, training or experience in maintenance/operations and their ability to perform in a lead role and to do other related work as required.

Education/Experience: • Graduation from high school or evidence of equivalent educational proficiency. Additional qualifying experience is by advanced training and/or coursework in maintenance planning, maintenance scheduling, and estimating maintenance projects. • Five years’ experience at the journey level or higher in maintenance or operations work involving the planning, organizing, installation, service, repair, or the maintenance of mechanical, instructional, or classroom equipment or the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds. At least two years of experience must have been at or above Lead Maintenance or Operations Worker level. Licenses and Other Requirements: Possession and maintenance of a valid California Class C Driver's License; Class A or B is highly desirable.
