Job Summary

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the general supervision of district Behavior Specialist/Manager, qualified teacher, or program specialists, provides specialized instruction, behavior service to students presenting with learning challenges. Instructional Assistant – BIC will receive direct supervision from district Behavior Specialist/manager and other administrators as assigned and are expected to have a valid California Driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for travel between school sites. Specific Duties Include: • Provides specialized behavioral services including but not limited to discrete trial training, errorless teaching, verbal behavior training, social skills training and adaptive life skills training. • Assist the teacher with the development and presentation of learning materials and instructional exercises; • Tutor students individually or in small groups to reinforce and follow up learning activity; • Assist in the management and shaping of student behavior through data collection and use of positive reinforcement strategies; • Creates and updates educational and behavioral instructional materials • Auditory and visual monitoring of students both inside the classroom and during outside activities; • May perform clerical duties such as filing, duplicating materials, data entry; • Maintain student discipline in the absence of the teacher; • Participates in specialized professional development training by Behavior Specialists/Manager related to strategies, interventions, procedures to meet behavioral and social needs of students • With assistance and guidance from Behavior Specialist, provides training to school personnel on behavioral and instructional procedures. • Assist in maintaining a neat, orderly, and attractive learning environment; • Perform all related duties as assigned
