Job Summary

The Head Girls’ Volleyball Coach position is responsible for providing leadership and guidance to student athletes and assistant coaches within the program. The Head Coach will instruct student-athletes in fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. The Head Coach reports to and works closely with the Head Varsity Volleyball Coach and Athletic Director to determine goals and direction of the program. The Head Coach is responsible for the health, safety and welfare of every student-athlete participating in their program for Palo Alto High School. Coaching Duties to be coordinated with the Varsity Coach : ? Coordinates the training, instruction, conditioning, and selection of athletes within the program. ? Delegates specific duties, supervises implementation, and at season’s end, analyzes staff effectiveness and evaluates all assistants. ? Verifies that all athletes have all forms and obligations cleared through the Athletic Trainer’s office before athletes are allowed to tryout/practice. ? Coordinates the activities and responsibilities of assistant coaches. ? Develops and organizes effective practices for athletes that teach skills and strategies needed to compete in SCVAL ? Communicating throughout the season to make sure all athletes are aware of practice times and schedules. ? Demonstrates and generates among your staff and players an attitude of good sportsmanship and fair play by adhering to the CIF/CCS and SCVAL Sportsmanship Guidelines. ? Adheres to the start and end dates of the season and rules pertaining to out-of season coaching as determined by the CIF/CCS. ? Reviews Palo Alto’s Athletic Handbook with all team members (before the season begins) and informs parents/athletes of team rules, expectations, and other requirements. ? Provides for the health, safety, and well-being of team members at practices, games, and transportation to and from games. This
