Under the supervision of the Coordinator of Pupil Personnel Services and Special Education, to apply scientific principles of learning and behavior to ametiorate school-related problems and to facilitate the learning and development of pupils.
Major Duties & Responsibilities:
-To implement and support the philosophy, goals, objectives, and policies of the district.
-To assess and diagnose specific learning and behaviorial disabilities, including but not limited to, case study evaluation, recommendations for remediation or placement, and periodic re-evaluation of such pupils.
-To consult with school administrators and other professionals concerning appropriate learning objectives for pupils, planning of development and remedial programs for experimentation and evaluation.
-To consult with teachers in the development and implementation of classroom methods and procedures designed to facilitate pupil learning and to overcome learning and behavior disorders.
-To consult with parents to assist in understanding the learning and adjustment processes of pupils.
-To provide psychological counseling for and use other therapeutic techniques with pupils and parents, including parent education.
-To servce as a member of the Education Assessment Service (Admission and Discharge Committee).
-To keep appropriate records.
-To enhance professional competence through professional growth activities.
Other Duties & Responsibilities:
-To consult with community agencies, such as probation departments, mental health clinics, and welfare departments, concerning pupils who are being served by such community agencies.
-To assist in selection and requisition of supplies and equipment, and to maintain required inventory records.
-To interact positively with collegues.
-To attend district in-service and information meetings.
-To perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Applicants must hold or be eligible for California Pupil Personnel Services Credential with School Psychology authorization. Will also consider intern eligible for PPS for School Psychology.
