The educational programs at Discovery Days Preschool were created with our children’s needs in mind: to mature and develop in a safe yet stimulating environment. Our Reggio inspired curriculum, accompanied with our Montessori inspired materials and new state of the art facilities, create a specially designed space for our students to learn and thrive in. Our programs also include ample outdoor play time in our newly opened beautiful outdoor play space. In our Preschool -TK programs there will be a daily schedule with predictable routines for the children to become familiar and comfortable with. We will also offer a weekly Music/Spanish class, a monthly art class, gardening, cooking, dramatic play, sensory exploration, daily outdoor playtime and community service projects. The children have the opportunity to complete individual work, group work and free play. The classrooms are interconnected, offering a very large indoor space, designed specifically for children to explore and learn at their own pace. The indoor and outdoor environment are inspired by Reggio Emilia, Montessori and RIE child development philosophies. Discovery Days will be using Reggio inspired curriculum, which uses the interests of the children to direct the curriculum. Teachers will observe the children closely to dictate how they plan their lessons, which are all play based. Discovery Days bases its curriculum on both teacher knowledge and what is meaningful for each child. Curriculum emerges from a collaboration between teacher direction and children’s interest. All of our staff are educators of young children and offer opportunities to extend learning through play with mindful interactions and intentions when creating and implementing curriculum.
