Cathedral School for Boys is an Episcopal, K-8 school of 264 students located in San Francisco. Founded in 1957, Cathedral is committed to providing an excellent education while defining what it means to educate and raise boys. We devote each day to the spirited dialogue, dynamic lessons, and intentional character building that guide each young boy to engage in the way that best fits him, while he simultaneously develops empathy and respect for the world around him. We are committed to supporting our teachers, both in and out of the classroom. Salaries and benefits are among the most generous of any school in the Bay Area, and include health care coverage for staff and their dependents, a robust non-matching retirement contribution, parking and commuter benefits, and delicious daily lunch provided by Acre Gourmet. Cathedral also devotes significant resources towards professional development and encourages all staff, regardless of their role, to attend conferences and workshops that will further their growth as educators. In recent years, we have sent groups of teachers to the NAIS People of Color Conference, Wildwood Multicultural Leadership Institute, and more. Cathedral believes that diversity is an educational imperative, and we have been recognized for our leadership and multicultural education. Forty-two percent of our student body are students of color, and annually, we dedicate more than 16% of our gross tuition ($1.5m in 2019) to Adjustable Tuition, our financial aid program which supports not only tuition for students in need, but also tutoring, uniforms, transportation, and technology needs, as examples.
