IT Support Technician

 

 

 

 

Definition:

 

Under the direction of the Director, Information Technology, maintains, analyzes, troubleshoots, and repairs computers, mobile devices, and computer hardware or peripherals.  Supports, monitors, tests, and troubleshoots hardware and software problems pertaining to computer devices, systems, and network.

 

Supervision Exercised and Received:

 

An employee in this classification receives direction from the Director, Information Technology, within the framework of Mono County Office of Education policies and procedures.

 

 

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following;

 

  • ·         Maintains confidentiality
  • ·         Provides end user support for all applications
  • ·         Recommends and schedules repairs
  • ·         Supports and maintains user account information including rights, security, and systems groups
  • ·         Sets up, maintains, and evaluates miscellaneous printer operations and problems
  • ·         Sets up, upgrades and/or replaces, maintains, and troubleshoots hardware and software in a mixed operating system environment
  • ·         Documents hardware and software
  • ·         Maintain antivirus and antispyware software and cleans/disinfects or re-images computers or devices as needed

 

Employment Standards:

Knowledge of:

 

  • ·         And experience in customer support dynamics
  • ·         And demonstrated experience with Microsoft, Apple, Open Source, or other operating systems
  • ·         And experience using, configuring, and supporting all office applications, including Google Apps for Education
  • ·         Active Directory networks and TCP/IP networking
  • ·         Data Processing concepts, theories, and capabilities at a generalist level
  • ·         English grammar, syntax, punctuation, and spelling

 

Ability to:

 

  • ·         Maintain a cooperative working relationship with users, school districts, and staff
  • ·         Utilize problem-solving techniques for effective system utilization
  • ·         Organize, plan and control work and projects involving a multiplicity of components and staff to achieve desired goals and objectives

  • ·         Work effectively as a member of the team in carrying out the mission of the Mono County Office of Education

Education and Experience:

 

  • Ø  High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Ø  A+ Certification or equivalent experience required
  • Ø  A minimum of one (1) year experience in computer support, maintenance, and troubleshooting;
  • Ø  Additional computer science coursework is desirable. 

 

 

Other Requirements: 

 

Possession of a valid driver’s license.

 

Meet the physical requirements necessary to safely and effectively perform assigned duties, including lifting fifty-five (55) pounds on an occasional basis and in excess of fifty-five (55) pounds with assistance.  Physical abilities include sitting and standing for extended periods, reaching, fine manual dexterity, pulling, talking/hearing, and near and far visual acuity/depth perception/color vision/field of vision.

 

 

Probationary Period:  One Year

Salary Range:  Range 50 Classified Regular

High School Diploma or equivalent with an A+ Certification or equivalent experience required. A minimum of one (1) year experience in computer support, maintenance, and troubleshooting; Additional computer science coursework is desirable.
