Basic Assignment
Under the supervision of the Program Director, the School Age Site Supervisor is responsible for the overall program management, supervision, planning and implementing of activities and contractual/regulatory compliance of the program.
Qualifications
- Must be 21 years of age or older and a high school graduate.
- 12 units in Child Development or related field, plus 3 units in Child Development Administration are required. AA or BA in Early Childhood Education or Child Development is highly desirable.
- Minimum of 4 years working with youth in after school, child care, or comparable setting.
- Must be highly dependable
- Previous experience supervising staff preferred.
- Must have willingness to fulfill the job responsibilities in accordance to the program and branch goals.
- Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical incidents and the physical ability to act in an emergency situation.
- Physical ability to lead activities, such as sports, games and curriculum activities, monitor behavior and general housekeeping responsibilities.
- Ability to relate to children and adults in a professional manner.
- Must have a warm and friendly personality, while having sensitivity to meet the needs of a diverse population.
- Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions.
- A physical exam and negative TB test results within 7 days of hire.
- Confirmation of current immunizations for the following: Pertusses (TDap) and Measles (MMR). An Influenza (Flu Shot) is preferred, but optional.
- Pediatric CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification required within 30 days of hire, unless specified otherwise on contract, and must be from one of the following certifying organization: American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
- Current EMSA Health & Safety certification required.
Major Functions
- Plan, supervise and implement the program, monthly goals and objectives, calendar of activities, daily schedule, curriculum, snack and monthly newsletter in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.
- Ensure constant and consistent supervision of all children, ensuring their guidance and safety.
- Ensure that program and staff consistently comply with all licensing regulations and YMCA policies and procedures.
- Ensure established emergency procedures are followed at all times by all staff, ensuring the safety of the participants and staff.
- Accurately document all incidents/accidents and ensure proper communication to all parties as appropriate.
- Maintain complete and up-to-date records, including attendance, absentees, and emergency information on all children enrolled. Ensure accuracy and consistency of sign in/out sheets.
- Provide direction and guidance to site staff on a regular basis. Coordinate staff schedules and monitor staff's arrivals, departures and absences.
- Appraise employed personnel annually as to performance and responsibilities and recommend salary adjustments.
- Coordinate daily program operations including daily set up, youth supervision, program planning and site maintenance including, by not limited to; cleaning bathrooms, wiping down tables, sweeping/ mopping/ vacuuming floors, taking out trash, and securing facilities and equipment.
- Communicate in a positive and effective manner with all participants, school officials, parents, community members and co-workers.
- Maintain professional demeanor at all times to ensure the YMCA image and mission statement are upheld.
