The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting for a Principal for the Momentum Learning Program. The current vacancy is for the South Region of the Momentum Learning Program. The Principal is responsible for organizing and providing instructional and administrative leadership and guidance to staff and students in one or more assigned schools, camps, or juvenile hall facilities; directs implementation of instructional programs; serves as liaison with districts, the County Office, community agencies, parents and the public; and coordinating activities and addressing issues, situations and/or problems that arise on campus or with enrolled students. SDCOE's Momentum Learning schools (formerly known as Juvenile Court and Community Schools, or JCCS) provide a fully-accredited educational program for school-age youth who are either wards of the court or have been referred by social services, probation, or one of the 42 school districts in San Diego County. Services are provided to incarcerated youth, pregnant minors, foster youth, expelled teens, and chronically truant youth, students in drug treatment centers and group homes for neglected or abused children, and homeless youth. Momentum Learning serves nearly 5,000 students per year at more than 24 sites across the county of San Diego. This position requires a valid CA Administrative Services credential and valid CA teaching credential, as well as a valid CA Driver's License, upon hire, to be able to travel to various school sites across San Diego County. In addition, this position requires any combination of education and experience equivalent to a master’s degree from an accredited college or university, including course work in instructional leadership and/or organizational change, and three (3) years of increasingly responsible educational administrative services experience in a school setting, with responsibility for coaching and evaluating teaching staff.
