The job of Technology Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing telecommunication services and repairing electronic systems; providing information on the proper operation of systems and services; ensuring the completion of projects in a timely manner.

      The job of Technology Assistant is done for the purpose/s of providing telecommunication services and repairing electronic systems; providing information on the proper operation of systems and services; ensuring the completion of projects in a timely manner.

          Comments and Other Information

          Skills, Knowledge and Abilities SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to occasionally upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications; operating equipment used in the maintenance and repair of telecommunications and electronics equipment; and preparing and maintaining accurate records; operating standard office equipment and office technology. • KNOWLEDGE is required to perform algebra and/or geometry; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and solve practical problems. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: telephony; basic electronics; operation, care, maintenance, diagnosis and repair of telecommunication, electronic and audio visual equipment; experience with Access Control head end terminations and controller/panel configuration and programming card readers, in/out boards, user access setup, access groups and safety practices and procedures, door hardware and locks; knowledge of CCTV installation, configuration and support, Network Video Recorder programming, perform firmware upgrade to analog and IP cameras and related surveillance equipment; classroom instructional media and technology; current and emerging technology; job-related codes/laws/rules/regulations/policies; keyboarding; office equipment and technology and basic computer-networking concepts and topologies. ABILITY is required to schedule activities and/or meetings; gather and/or collate data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a wide variety of circumstances; work with data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Ability is also required to work with a diversity of individuals and/or groups; work with a variety of data; and utilize a variety of types of job-related equipment. Some problem solving may be required to identify issues and select action plans. Problem solving with data requires independent interpretation of guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is moderate. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: communicating with diverse groups; adapting to changing work priorities; meeting deadlines and schedules; setting priorities; working with detailed information/data; and working with frequent interruptions; displaying mechanical aptitude; working as part of a team.
