Database Specialist III (Open) at Kern County Superintendent of Schools
Requirements / Qualifications
REQUIREMENTS: • Education: Graduate of a four-year college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field OR • Work experience in a comparable position can be substituted on a year-to-year basis in place of post high school education requirement • Experience: Minimum of five years experience working with microcomputer relational database systems in an applied setting which may include any or all of the following experiences-software application development and customizing; • Database application development and database modeling (Object role modeling) • Any combination of the above experiences is acceptable with demonstrated proficiency in major Microsoft Applications and with at least three years experience in programming in C languages, Open Script Language • Minimum of two years experience in computer software applications training in multi-user operating systems environments • Minimum of one year experience working in Database administrative role, MS SQL desired. • Minimum of one year experience working in server environments, such as Microsoft Windows 2003, 2008, 2012. The following additional documents must be uploaded via EDJOIN by the filing deadline in order to be considered in the hiring process (pertains to current employees also): • Proof of education (i.e. college transcripts, copy of college diploma) A scanner to upload required documents is available in the Human Resources office located at 1300 17th St., Bakersfield, CA 93301. • The documents will be scanned and emailed to the candidate. Candidates achieving a rating of 70% or better will qualify to continue in the eligibility screening process.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:
Some positions may require proof of privately owned automobile insurance and the possession of a valid California Motor Vehicle operator’s license. Fingerprint clearance by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice is a condition of appointment after all other required job conditions have been met. Must present verification of completion of Child Abuse Mandated Reporter training or obtain verification within six (6) weeks of hire and annually thereafter, as required by the California Child Abuse Neglect Reporting Act. This position has a probationary period of six months or 130 days in paid service, whichever is longer.
