DUTIES AND RESPONSIBIITIES:
Under the direction of the Director of Technology performs the following duties:
• Maintain, monitor and inventory network switches, routers, servers and access points.
• Upgrade, implement and repair network infrastructure including hardware and software resources of the entire network that enables network connectivity, communication operations and management.
• Maintain, repair and monitor VOIP systems including inventory of units.
• Maintain network performance by monitoring, analyzing, and tuning of the network.
• Monitor, manage, maintain and administer the server environment including: Active Directory, Exchange, SQL database, DNS.
• Upgrade and implement equipment (i.e. computers, switches, routers, peripherals, servers, access points, firewalls, proxies) by conferring with vendors; planning, testing evaluating, and installing enhancements.
• Maintain an inventory of all district-wide computer hardware and software.
• Develop detailed system and user documentation relating to technology.
• Troubleshoot, repair and upgrade district office computer and peripheral equipment.
• Develop and implement E-rate proposals (i.e. 470, 471) including organizing, comparing and scheduling vendors.
• Maintains and systematically reviews security for district-wide computer systems.
• Implements and maintain software specific to district-wide needs.
• Supervise the Technology support technician; assist in troubleshooting and repairing escalated issues.
• Makes recommendations regarding technology-related policies.
• Performs other general technology related tasks as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and two years’ experience in
computer and network service and repair or Six years’ experience in computer and
network service and repair.
2. Valid Driver’s License and up-to-date vehicle insurance.
KNOWLEDGE:
• Knowledge and understanding of computer equipment.
• Knowledge of network infrastructures (i.e. switches, routers, cabling, servers, firewalls, proxies).
• Knowledge of VOIP systems with emphasis on Cisco Unity CallManager.
• Knowledge of software programs commonly used in an office or school environment.
• Knowledge of server related software (i.e. Active Directory, SQL Databases, DNS and Exchange).
• Knowledge of various computer operating systems including XP, Vista, Windows 7/10, Mac OS.
• Knowledge of E-rate procedures including RFP-470 and 471.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to meet schedules and timelines.
• Ability to plan and implement procedures to update or improve network infrastructure.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to unpack, configure an install computer and network equipment including lifting and carrying equipment.
• Ability to maintain accurate records within a database enduring consistency and quality.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the position.
PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
• Eyesight corrected or uncorrected sufficient to read fine print.
• Speech sufficient to speak in an articulate and understandable manner.
• Hearing sufficient with or without use of hearing aid to have telephone conversations.
• Manual dexterity and coordination sufficient to operate computer equipment.
• Able to lift boxes of computer and network equipment.
• Able to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:

• Travel locally in county and out of county in own vehicle.
• Perform routine and repetitive work to completion.
• Attend meetings and in-service training.
• Work closely with end-users.
• Work at any employer work location.
JOB CLASSIFICATION:
This is an itinerant position. The employee will serve multiple school sites as determined by the Superintendent.
This is a Classified /Confidential Position that reports to the Director of Technology.
