Prep for Success is hiring a Full-time School Nurse for the San Bernardino and High Desert Area.  Prep for Success provides comprehensive Special Education services to students with mild to moderate disabilities or learning disabilities.  Prep for Success partners with Options for Youth to provide Special Education services to students.

 

General Summary:

The School Nurse will act as a member of the multidisciplinary Individual Education Program (IEP) team.  He/ She will evaluate the health and developmental status of pupils for initial and triennial assessments.  He/She will interpret medical and nursing findings appropriate to the student’s IEP and submit reports of findings at IEP meetings. The School Nursewill have knowledge of community resources and serve as a resource to pupils, parents and others.  The primary goal of this position is to support and carry out the instructional leadership team goals of 100% retention, 100% CAHSEE pass rates and all charters achieve a 9 or 10 compared to similar schools in a state wide average.Provides direct instructional support. Meets with students and parents as well as teaching staff to make sure students are successful.

 

Essential Functions include, but are not limited to the following:*

  • Assess the health and developmental status of pupils as part of their special education evaluation 
  • Interpret the health and developmental assessments to parents, teachers, administrators, and other professionals directly concerned with the pupil 
  • Provide a written report of health and medical findings 
  • Provide pupils, parents and others with information on community resources

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • Ability to organize and present ideas effectively in oral and written form.
  • Ability to interact respectably with youths and others
  • Flexibility in scheduling
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with multiple individuals and at several sites
  • Willingness to travel to various school locations
  • Ability to make skillful decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet IEP report timelines.

 

 

Education and Experience:

  • Hold a School Nurse Services Credential
  • Registered Nurse License
