LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST
Under the supervision of a librarian; to assist in supervising a library media center at a school; to assist students in the interpretation and completion of assigned studies or use of the library; and to do related work as required.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
When supervising a library facility or resource center, will supervise students; assist students in using library resources; books and make sure all markings are correct; remove catalog cards from card catalog for missing books; when new order catalog arrives, enter inventory information; set-up charge file for future ordering; assist librarian in training student assistants when needed and assist librarian in library orientation; pull catalog cards from withdrawn books; set up display of new books and help decorate the library
Subject taught in the department to which assigned;
English usage, vocabulary, grammar and spelling.
Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students and faculty;
Analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action;
Understand and follow oral and written directions;
File alphabetically and numerically;
Supervise student assistants;
Ability to type catalog cards accurately.
Two years (60 units) in an accredited college or university OR 6 college level credits in Library Science and two years experience working in a library
