The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. OCDE is a public education organization offering support services to 27 school districts and more than 600 schools and 20,000 educators serving over 500,000 students in Orange County. Our vision is that Orange County students will lead the nation in college and career readiness and success. We play a supportive role in the fulfillment of this vision in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development and in partnership with families, businesses, and community organizations. We are recruiting a dynamic Software Developer to code, implement, test, analyze and debug applications according to specifications; to modify, expand, and update applications; to develop software prototypes; to collaborate with teams and stakeholders; to learn and document existing applications and processes and as updates are made; and to transform requirements to solutions. This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, and is based out of Costa Mesa.

Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in a computer related field and one to two years of recent experience in the areas of design, development, testing, debugging and deployment of applications using Microsoft .NET and SQL Server. Recent college coursework and education can be used in lieu of work experience. (Recent experience is defined as within the last two (2) years) There are supplemental questions in the application.
