POSITION: Special Education Teacher – Mild/Moderate (Candidate Pool for 2018 - 2019)
REPORTS TO: Principal
EVALUATED BY: Principal
WORK YEAR: 183 Workdays
SALARY RANGE: Appropriate Placement on Teacher's Salary Schedule
($53,728 – $91,039)
SUMMARY:
Provides a program of small-group and individualized instruction for students with special needs.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Participates as a member of the school site eligibility and planning team in the assessment of learning needs and the development of an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) for the students identified with special needs.
2. Develops/modifies lesson plans with short-term behavioral objectives that will enable students to meet their annual goals and long-term instructional objectives as determined by the IEP Team.
3. Coordinates individualized academic instruction in the specific skill areas identified in the student’s IEP.
4. Assists school staff in providing identified students with successful mainstreaming opportunities in general education classrooms and/or as appropriate having the students participate in extracurricular activities.
5. Conducts on-going student evaluation and periodically gives feedback to parents, teachers and other IEP Team members regarding the student’s progress.
6. Assists with development and presentation of staff inservices related to special education and disabilities awareness.
7. Support students in both co-teaching and learning center models.
8. Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
° Possession of a Special Education Mild/Moderate Credential with Autism authorization
° Three years of teaching experience desired
