This position is for a pool of substitutes that would be available for five small school districts and two charter schools located in Ventura County. CLASS TITLE:          SUBSTITUTE TEACHER POOL

BASIC FUNCTION:

 

To implement the daily instructional plans of the classroom teacher in an effective manner.  To maintain a class environment favorable to learning and personal growth; to establish effective rapport with pupils while maintaining proper classroom management.  To work effectively with the building administrator and other teachers to minimize any potential transition problems from the teacher to substitute and substitute to teacher.

 

REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:

 

Reports to school office at beginning of school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.  Follows sign out procedures as prescribed by the school director. E

Carries out a program of study prescribed in the lesson plans left by the classroom teacher. E

Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students. E

Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and objectives as indicated in the lesson plans for the lessons, units, or projects assigned. E

Employs instructional methods and materials that are most appropriate for meeting lesson objectives. E

Maintains a neat and orderly classroom.  Straightens chairs, tables, clears chalkboard, etc. E

Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures. E

Indicates to students at beginning of class the basic expectations for behavior in the class in accordance with school policies. E

Insures that the students are never left unattended in the classroom. E

May perform duties usually required of absent teacher such as lunchroom duty, hall monitoring, etc. E

Knows emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned. E

Knows procedures for referring students who are disciplinary problems. E

Knows school procedures and regulations. E

Performs other related duties as directed by the school director E

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor’s Degree 

 

LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

 

30-day Sub Permit or, Valid CA Teaching Credential

Official transcripts showing BA/BS.

Indoor and outdoor work environment.

 

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

Vision (which may be corrected) to read small print; hearing and speaking to communicate with others; ability to stand, stoop, reach and bend; mobility of arms to reach and dexterity of hands to grasp and manipulate small objects and operate office equipment; perform lifting, lifting objects weighing up to 40 pounds, pushing and/or pulling which does not exceed 30 pounds; to function in inside and outside environmental conditions; operate a computer terminal
