JOB TITLE: School Director
DESCRIPTION OF BASIC RESPONSIBILITIES
To plan, organize, and administer CORE’s educational program, and to facilitate school
community groups including teachers, parents, service organizations, school personnel,
and the school board.
SUPERVISOR: School Board
TYPICAL DUTIES
1. Personnel Management
− Oversee operations of CORE school
− Supervise & evaluate management and supervisory staff
− Recognize outstanding staff accomplishments
− Create collegial relationships, facilitating collaborative decision making and
methods to support diverse personalities
− Coordinate all management and supervisory recruitment, retention, and reward
procedures
− Follow all employment policies
− Identify and develop staff development opportunities
− Apply necessary disciplinary actions in a fair & consistent manner and according
to policy and regulation
2. School Governance
− Prepare monthly meeting agendas and Board packets
− Support and implement school board decisions and policies
− Attend all school board meetings and all other meetings as appropriate
− Facilitate collaborative decision making with staff, students and parents
3. School Finance & Business Management
− Prepare and administer annual budget
− Operate school within board-approved budget
− Assist in preparation of district, county and state reports as required
− Liaison between all sectors of budget development
− Prepare school contracts
4. Student Enrollment
− Coordinate enrollment to meet student population target
− Coordinate audit enrollment documentation for accuracy

5. Curriculum & Instruction
− Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations
− Review proposals for alternative courses of study
6. Communication
− Convey program activities to school community through regular written
newsletters and other forms of communications
− Respond to inquires/concerns in a timely manner
7. High School Programs
− Monitor work of H.S. Counselor which includes:
− Assure course content meets CSU & UC requirements
− Develop accreditation in accordance with WASC guidelines
8. Public Relations
− Attend all pertinent meetings with regard to charter schools and school programs
9. Special Education/Counseling Programs
− Collaborate with YCOE Special Education Coordinator to provide legally
compliant services to qualified students
− Responsible for ‘search and find’ for identifying special education students
10. Performs other duties similar to the above as required.

- exercise judgment and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and
procedures;
- interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
- analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective courses of action;
- meet schedules and time lines;
- prepare comprehensive narrative and statistical reports;
- plan, supervise, and evaluate the performance of assigned staff;
- communicate effectively in both oral and written forms;
- meet and maintain the physical requirements necessary to perform assigned job
functions in a safe and effective manner;
- establish and maintain effective work relationships with those contacted in the
performance of required duties.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS
- CA Administrative Services Credential required
- Minimum of five (5) years previous teaching experience;
- Minimum of three (3) years prior administrative experience;
- Personalized Learning experience preferred
- Valid California Drivers License/Proof of insurance;
- First Aid Certificate including CPR;
- Annually obtain thirty (30) hours of professional development;
- Drug test clearance;
- TB test clearance;
- Criminal justice fingerprint processing;
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS
1. Sufficient vision to read printed material;
2. Sufficient hearing to conduct in person and telephone conversations;
3. Understandable voice with sufficient volume and clarity to be heard in normal
conversations;
4. Sufficient dexterity to write, operate telephone and business machines;
5. Ability to sit for extended periods of time;
6. Physical, mental and emotional stamina to endure long hours under sometimes
stressful conditions;
7. Sufficient strength and flexibility to assist individuals with physical limitations;
8. Walk, stand, bend, kneel, and/or twist while performing duties;
9. Ability to lift 25 pounds and/or carry any object weighing up to 15 pounds;
10. Ability to drive an automobile.
