CREDENTIAL: Must possess an appropriate counseling credential or be enrolled in a program pursuing such credential

RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provides direct guidance and counseling services which are relevant to the sequential development of students as related to educational, social and vocational objectives
2. Provides individual and group counseling services which help a student understand and accept him/herself and to help him/her in the development of personal decision-making competencies in resolving special problems
3. Helps students make appropriate choices of school programs and to develop long range plans of study
4. Collects, coordinates and interprets meaningful information about each student which helps to identify students with special abilities and needs and shares this information with staff members, parents, and others who are professionally concerned
5. Disseminates information concerning school offerings, opportunities for further education, careers and career training, and community special services which are available to the student
6. Maintains cooperative liaison between the school and community agencies and makes appropriate referrals
7. Provides placement services for students, such as grouping and scheduling
8. Assists students in the transition from one school level to another, from one school to another school, and from school to employment
9. Conducts or cooperates with others in research related to educational career planning and the needs of pupils
10. Conferences with parents and assists them with problems and decisions which relate directly to the educational welfare of the student

SALARY: Placement on the Certificated Salary Schedule
