DEFINITION:

Under the supervision of Special Education Administration, the School Psychologist/ Case Manager for non-public schools (NPS) provides a variety of services including: placement and case management of CNUSD students in out of district placements.  The School Psychologist/ Case Manager acts as administrative designee, provides oversight of the development and implementation of IEPs, coordinates initial and triennial assessments between agencies for students, and assists in coordinating other services as needed.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • CA PPS: School Psychologist
  • Completion of  CPI/PENT/Boys Town or like trainings
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience as a successful school psychologist

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Knowledge and experience  of the application of various mental health / behavioral models
  • Experience with ED/OHI/behavior disordered students
  • Secondary school experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of resources available through community agencies (ex: CPS, Mental Health agencies, DPSS, Probation, etc.)

TYPICAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide case management for District students placed in non-public schools,

County Special Schools, Community and Correctional Schools.

  • Serve as the administrative designee in meetings, including Individual Educational Plan (IEP) meetings to determine appropriate placement in the least restrictive environment for students with disabilities
  • Attending and completing IEP paperwork, referral packets on all students placed out of the District.
  • Searching for appropriate student placements.
  • Developing and supporting transition of students from out of District placements to local District options
  • Initiating and responding to records request.
  • Conducting Functional Behavioral Analysis (FBA)
  • Collecting data on progress on goals and behavioral interventions.
  • Completing triennial and annual assessments/IEPs for students on case load
  • Coordinating Multi-Agency IEP Team meetings
  • Leading Expanded IEPs upon receiving request for RTC (Residential Treatment Centers).
  • Coordinating and completing the necessary paperwork for transitions with out of district schools
  • Scheduling and conducting observations with families and schools
  • Completing Risk Assessments of students as needed
  • Completing all case management responsibilities while ensuring compliance with legal mandates and provision of services
  • Performing related duties as assigned.

  • California Common Core State Standards and ELD Standards
  • Best practices in curriculum adaptation methodology
  • Current research-based practices to improve student achievement and behavior outcomes
  • Role of non-public schools and non-public agencies
  • Data analysis and implications for program development

ABILITY TO:

  • Establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with others.
  • Analyze and interpret assessment results for the purpose of designing and modifying instruction.
  • Use and share a variety of instructional strategies; apply knowledge of methods of supporting and extending instruction.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS:

  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer, hand-held learning devices and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must regularly lift 10-15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move 20-40 pounds.

  • Valid California driver’s license and evidence of insurance.
