Schedule: Monday thru Friday: 7 a.m. - 2 p.m.

REPORT TO:  Director of Operations

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

Supervises and manages all parts of the Nutrition Food Services Program in conformance with Federal and State regulations and School policies.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Runs OCEAA’s School Nutrition Services program: assures compliance with Federal, State, local and District law, regulations and policies: establishes operating procedures for kitchen.
  2. Administers OCEAA’s participation of the free and reduced meal program.
  3. Works with the kitchen manager to plan, develop and evaluate the master menus for school programs.
  4. Evaluate needs for expansion and/or revision of breakfast, lunch, and snack programs.
  5. Develops annual departmental budget and assure sound fiscal management practices, evaluates financial forecasts and analyze food and labor costs to assure efficient and cost effective operations in the preparation of the food service program budget; utilizes cost control procedures to avoid unwarranted department operating costs.
  6. Oversees kitchen and dining hall staff.
  7. Manages the preparation and maintenance of a variety of records, reports, reimbursement claims and other documents related to the school nutrition program.
  8. Assures purchasing activities comply with applicable Federal, State and District statutes, regulations and policies, determine specifications for purchase of food and equipment
  9. Operate standard office equipment including a computer, printers and point of sale machines
  10. Assists in development of hiring, train, supervise and evaluate assigned personnel.
  11. Provides information and nutritional resources and materials for parents, the School Board and the community.
  12. Serves as acting Administrator in the morning while breakfast is served and supervises dining hall staff during lunch.
  13. Oversees and recommends updates to the School’s Wellness Policy; ensures staff and students adhere to the policy; creates an environment where healthy and mindful eating is encouraged positively.
  14. Facilitates OCEAA’s Wellness Committee; creates agenda for Monthly meeting and ensures topics of interest are covered.
  15. Keeps abreast of developments in the school nutrition program management and nutrition education
  16. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

  1. B.A./B.S. Degree
  2. Experience running a school food services program; Registered Dietician and/or a School Nutrition Services credential are highly desirable.
  3. A valid Serv-Safe or equivalent certificate is required at time of appointment.
  4. Knowledge of principles and methods of food service management, sanitation and employee safety regulations.
  5. Knowledge of laws and regulations relating to school food services and school lunch programs.
  6. Ability to prepare and monitor budget reports for department
  7. Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school staff, parents, students and administrators.
  8. Capacity to effectively supervise employees.
  9. A valid First Aid certificate issued by the American Red Cross, which includes CPR training
  10. Current Tuberculosis Test
  11. Bilingual in both English/Spanish is strongly preferred.
  12. Strong oral communication and writing skills
  13. Ability to handle upset children and adults in a respectful and professional manner.
  14. Flexibility to attend required/mandatory meetings on campus.
  15. Ability to type 50 words per minute using both hands.
  16. Ability to sit, stand, climb stairs, lifting up to 25 lbs, bend, pull, push, carry, walk and operate equipment.

SALARY: $45,000 - $50,000 based on experience.

 

EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on evaluation of personnel.
