BASIC FUNCTION:
Under the supervision of site administration, maintain a safe and secure environment by protecting students, personnel, property, buildings and equipment, on or off campus.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
Perform all duties listed under Campus Proctor I and Campus Proctor II.
In Addition:
Maintain high visibility to deter, detect and discharge improper student behavior. Patrol on foot or in a vehicle, a school campus and other areas on or off
campus. Question students and non-students suspected of violating rules and regulations. Assist administration in investigations and apprehension of students involved in misconduct. Assist in directing traffic as needed. Intervene, diffuse and if necessary, physically constrain students during crimes, fights and acts of violence. Secure and document evidence. Participate in ongoing training activities.
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
KNOWLEDGE OF:
Laws of arrest, search and seizure and rules of evidence. Laws related to the maintenance of an orderly and secure campus. Emergency medical intervention techniques. Radio procedures and equipment. Adolescent behavior and interpersonal relations. Non-violent intervention techniques including physical contact as necessary. Interpersonal relations skills; using tact, patience, and courtesy.
. ABILITY TO:
Restrain and subdue violent person (s). Analyze situations carefully and adopt an effective course of action. Provide first aid and CPR. Work under high stress. Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Use restraining devices. Perform physical activities such as running or walking and standing for prolonged periods of time under adverse weather conditions. Learn and apply codes and school policies. Operate a radio. Recognize a controlled substance. Maintain a professional attitude and behavior. Establish and maintain records and make detailed, concise written reports. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Operate a vehicle observing legal and defensive driving practices. Establish and maintain effective working relationship with others.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Indoor and outdoor environment.
Must pass a physical agility test.
EDUCATION* AND EXPERIENCE:
Graduation from high school and some experience in working with youth in an organized setting. Possession of Completion of PC 832.2 and SB 1626 Certificates and successful passage of agility test selected by the District.
*If selected, proof of high school certificate or equivalency is required.
LICENSE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Valid California driver’s license. Driving record acceptable to the District insurance carrier. Valid First Aid certificate. Valid CPR certificate, PC 832.2 certificate and SB 1626 certificate.
Must wear standard uniform and maintain clean and neat appearance.
