Hours: Part Time M, T, TH, F 7:30-3:30 with a 30 min lunch break W 9-2pm

REPORTING TO:  Kamil Hazel, Student Activities Director                                                  


JOB SUMMARY: The supervisor is a part-time position, responsible for planning and implementing play and physical activity programming during recess and during PE.  The Supervisors are dedicated to ensuring all children get a chance to play and participate in the playground. The Supervisors will develop professional skills, lead and instruct games to children, teach students to resolve challenges, as well as support adults in their facilitation of student play. The Playground Supervisor upholds the mission established by OCEAA.


 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Helps to instruct students in structured activities during lunch recess times.
  2. Support & enforce school rules & playground expectations.
  3. Helps to instruct students on proper routines, technique, rules and conflict resolution strategies.
  4. Ensure fair play and eliminates dangerous situations.
  5. Helps to monitor a variety of stations and game activities for varied grade levels 1st -8th.
  6. Helps to plan and implement structured lesson plans for PE classes.
  7. Mediates and resolves conflicts between students, as well as promoting teamwork with other staff.
  8. Demonstrate knowledge of, and support of OCEAA’s mission, vision, value statements, standards, policies and procedures, operating instructions, confidentiality standards, and the code of ethical behavior.
  9. Helps to plan and promote the annual Jog-a-thon.
  10. Helps to record data for the annual physical fit test.
  11. Performs other related duties as required and assigned.
  12. Communicates with team, supervisors and administrators effectively and professionally.

 

ORGANIZATION RELATIONSHIPS:  Reports to Student Activities Director.  Works closely with all levels within the school, from teachers, office staff to administration.    

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required knowledge, skills & abilities:

 

  • A valid First Aid certificate issued by the American Red Cross, which includes CPR training
  • TB Clearance

 

  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good organizational skills with flexibility in adjusting to change and needs of a charter school.
  • Must present professional image for job title.
  • Must be able to maintain confidential information.
  • General knowledge of physical education activities
  • Ability to work with TK-8th grade staff and students.
  • Work is non-sedentary in nature, requiring the ability to be mobile up to 5 hours per day.
  • Ability to stand, climb stairs, lifting up to 25 lbs, bend, grasping, pull, push, carry, walk and operate                         equipment
  • Ability to perform simple grasping, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to answer phones and communicate with visitors in a professional manner.
  • Occasional stooping, bending, reaching and squatting to assist students.
  • Punctual and reliable in performing duties.
  • Enthusiastic in working with children of all grade levels. 
  • Other duties as assigned

 Minimum educational level:

  • H.S. Diploma required

 Experience required:

  • Two (2) years of related experience working with children
  • Working with people in a considerate and educational environment to help them grow in their positions.

 Desired Experience/Qualifications:   

  1. College level coursework with an emphasis in education, sociology, child development and/or other related fields
